Had a helluva good time Wednesday getting interviewed by fellow author Rick Outzen for his “And The Murders Began” podcast. Rick knows writing and we chewed the fat about character development, snappy dialogue, the importance of creating a vivid sense of place and the welcome surprise of characters taking over your story unbidden.

Rick is also owner/publisher of an alt-weekly in Pensacola, Fla. and writes mysteries with a ink-stained wretch of a protagonist, Walker Holmes. His latest is Blood In The Water, which will be joining my TBR stack. Many thanks, Rick. And thanks to Carmen Amato for steering Rick my way.
