Helluva review by the fabulous Gina Hott, czarina of Partners In Crime Tours, conducting the blog circuit promoting my latest Ed Earl Burch hardboiled Texas crime thriller.
The Fatal Saving Grace is one of those gritty, hard-boiled crime novels that sinks its hooks in and doesn’t let go.
Ed Earl Burch is older, battered, and back with a badge that feels heavier than before, but the mayhem he wades into in West Texas is as raw as ever. The mix of cartel gunsels, Aryan Brotherhood evil, and Dixie Mafia rot makes for a brutal ride, and Jim Nesbitt never sugarcoats the violence or the cost.
I will never forget some of these scenes or the way the land itself feels scorched into the story. At the same time, Burch’s protectiveness, his bad habits, and his stubbornness kept me rooting for him all the way through.
The Fatal Saving Grace is a great book, and I can’t wait to visit with Ed Earl again in the next, and previous, ones.
